Review: The Oak Bar
The best bar in Nashville? Well, there's a prickly subject if ever there was one. The address of such a place depends on whether you're a beer connoisseur or a wine snob, a cocktail fiend or a bomber of the grimiest dives. To name one bar above all others wouldn't really accomplish anything, except perhaps to put a lot of folks on the defensive.
But in terms of polish, class and dedication to fine ingredients, the Oak Bar gets top marks. This den beneath The Hermitage Hotel doesn't cater to everyone's tastes (though you can still order a Bud Light), but it sets a mighty fine example for the rest of the city in terms of atmosphere, mixology, bar food and plumbing.
(Pictured: The Oak Bar's take on the old-fashioned is straightforward and delicious.)
