Wine and Dine

Something about fall makes us think about wine bars.

Summer is all about margaritas on patios and beers on the lake. Once the weather cools off, however, we're ready to head indoors and sip on a syrah.

As you pack up your sandals and sundresses for the season, we offer a few suggestions for your cool-weather happy hour enjoyment. Save us a seat by the fireplace, please!

Rumours East is located in a 1900’s Victorian house in Historic East Nashville. Locally and independently owned and operated, we blend contemporary with rustic for a unique ambiance and attitude. Beyond the intimate rooms, fireplaces and handcrafted bar lives an awarding winning patio; all which provide an intimate spot for dining, drinking or celebrating. Our food is simple, flavorful and healthy. Our Chef, Hrant Arakelian uses many locally sourced products, seasonal ingredients and Mediterranean influences. His dishes are bold, spicy and sophisticated. Our bar menu includes boutique wines, artisan cocktails and craft beers handpicked by Adam Binder. The menus rotate on a regular basis, allowing our customers to always look forward to something new. We love offering a full spectrum of finely crafted drinks to compliment your food and conversation. Rumours East has evolved into a gathering place to celebrate life in our cozy neighborhood. The owners, Kevin and Sam Foley, are excited to have assembled such a great group of people to fill your evenings with delicious food and drink. This full-fledged wine bar offers a small but well-chosen menu that complements the main event. Look for artisan cheeses, salads, soups and tapas to go with your wine. The ambiance is effusive and energetic thanks to the rotating selection of local art, and the walls are painted in bright hues. Out front is a patio with a commanding view of the bursting 12South corridor of shops and restaurants. Slow down a bit and enjoy it with a deep gulp of viognier.

This adventurous restaurant in the burgeoning Eighth Avenue South corridor prides itself on flights, or rounds of small samples, of wines and global flavors. The vegetarian selection is extensive, and the vegetable soups are completely organic. Tables are set for romantic dining in an industrial setting that's grounded by walls of exposed brick. Diners can compose their own antipasti platter and move on to entrees like the Colorado lamb or pork tenderloin for dinner. If you're looking to broaden your horizons, try a flight of the day's featured wines.

2210 Crestmoor Road - Nashville

Long known as one of Nashville's best live jazz venues, this Green Hills restaurant excels at crafting impeccable seasonal menus and unexpected combinations. (One recent entree paired smoked quail with cornbread-crawfish stuffing.) Your server can also help you in selecting from one of 300 wines to pair with your meal. The staff's custom wine cellar and tableside manner have earned them multiple Wine Spectator awards over the years. The free live jazz in the bar is another wonderful enticement.

Jackson's Bar & Bistro

Jackson's Bar & Bistro

1800 21st Ave. S. - Nashville
615-385-9968

Jackson's caters to a diverse crowd day and night. Breakfast with fresh orange juice under the morning sun, then brunch or lunch with their popular spinach dip. Panini and other bites nicely complement an evening cocktail or glass of wine from the small but interesting wine list. The atmosphere really heats up at night, when the place becomes a nexus for Hillsboro Village night owls on the hunt for a drink or two after dinner. Fans of sweet drinks should enjoy the specialty cocktail list.

360 Bistro

360 Bistro

6000 Highway 100 - Nashville
615-353-5604

This self-described "modern American bistro" on the site of the former wine bar The Grape specializes in creative cuisine in a stylish setting. The bistro's accomplished chef, John David Crowe, trained in Seattle, and he brings touches of the Pacific Northwest to the menu. Wine lovers: try one of the four flights. It's a good exposure to varietals you may not be familiar with, and servers are on top of their game when it comes to pairing wines with dishes.

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar

2525 West End Ave. - Nashville
615-342-0131

For a romantic evening or just for the love of great food, Fleming's welcomes any and all seekers of the best steak in town. A dark, wooden interior invites diners to slow down and enjoy themselves while indulging in an extensive wine list. Favorite sides to go with that filet are the Fleming's potatoes or the adult style mac and cheese. Save room for dessert, because you must try the chocolate molten cake, but be sure to order it with your meal as it takes 30 minutes to prepare.
