Holland House rules

In the run-up to the opening of Holland House Bar & Refuge, the primary comparison was inevitable and omnipresent.
"It's Patterson House for East Nashville."
The parallels ran past just the presence of the word "house" in the name. Adventurous menu of classic cocktails? Yup. Ambitious bar setup dominating the landscape? Check. Meticulously trained mixologists serving up libations and knowledge? You betcha.
The new venue's potential stylistic differences - less formal, fewer rules, not as pretentious - were also spoken of, but under the breath, as if the more established House's agents/defenders would report back and you'd be forever banished to the wrong side of Patterson's velvet curtain.
Breathe easy, cocktail fans - there's room for both houses in our fair burg.
