Jimmy Phillips, a Nashville native and classically trained chef, owns this elegant but comfy bistro in a corner of the Sylvan Park neighborhood. Phillips and wife Seema looked for years before finding a space to open their own restaurant, settling on the former storefront home of Johnson's Meat Market. The chic renovation, including a tidy patio, suits the cuisine, which has classic French and Mediterranean influences but relies on local produce and other fresh ingredients. The wine list is small but interesting, plucking gems from around the world.

Miel's is wonderful. The food is great, the wait staff is superb, and the wine list is incredible. As for the desserts - no words do them justice!
