Guy Fieri has made his reputation by exalting workingman's food - behemoth Philly cheesesteaks, smoky slabs of spareribs, volcano-hot tamales - on his Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, which tracks down the best of American roadside food.
He also flexes a broad knowledge of other cuisines on his cooking shows Guy's Big Bite and Guy Off the Hook, and he pits home cooks' creations against one another in Ultimate Recipe Showdown.
As if he weren't busy enough, he's now on the road in a different sense with the Guy Fieri Roadshow, equal parts cooking demonstration, rock show and VIP party. The show, which hits TPAC this weekend, combines a big slug of classic rock 'n' roll with a dazzling bartender show (courtesy of award-winning acrobatic mixologist Hayden "Woody" Wood), plus more of Guy's signature bombast than will fit inside a TV screen. Chef Tully Wilson of Tully's Bistro in Hartsville, Tenn., will make a guest appearance.
The show's at 8 p.m. Sun., Nov. 22, in TPAC's Jackson Hall, 505 Deaderick St. Standard tickets are $25-$45, and there are a few $150 VIP seats available for the "Kulinary Krew" package, which includes a premium seat, pre-show meet-and-greet and assorted goodies. Details at www.tpac.org.
