Over the valley and through the hood ...

There’s only one holiday each year that manages to get almost every single person out of the cozy confines of their homes and into the streets of Nashville for a ghoulish night out on the town. And with massive Saturday night parties happening all over Music City, there was absolutely no excuse to stay in on Halloween night.

Haunted Valley, the new block party that took over 12th Avenue between Mai and 12th & Porter, was a big hit, thanks to a $50,000 production that included an amazing light show and performances from Designer Drugs, U-N-I, Kidz in the Hall, Sanchez and the Shockers, Play Me, Coach vs. Kase, DJ Rod, The Spinderellas and a headlining set from the one and only regulator, all the way from Long Beach, Calif., Warren G. Estimates were that 3,000 passed through the gates over the course of the evening.

Warren G rolled in with a posse so big that his limo got stuck going over a speed bump. They had to bail out of the car a few blocks from the party. Luckily, the entire crew eventually made it and holed up inside the old Judge Bean’s location while waiting to take the stage.

Warren has been busy lately, having just released his seventh studio album, The G Files, featuring Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Travis Barker, Ray J and Raekwon. He’s set to tour in 2010 with 50 Cent, Eminem and Snoop.

Once on stage, it was clear that the “G Funk Era” was still in full effect. Warren’s rhymes were as smooth as ever, and the dense crowd, which stretched nearly up to Broadway, adoringly chanted along with all the lyrics.
