Byrd's Eye View: nashvilleNYE at The Warehouse
New Year's Eve at The Warehouse proved to be a roaring success, thanks to Jensen Sportag, Justin Kase and Michael Madrid, who provided all the audio and visuals. The venue, an 8,000-square-foot warehouse off Sixth Avenue, was difficult to find, but worth the search. Nearly1,000 people decided to celebrate the beginning of a new year there and they were greeted with a photo booth set up by photographer Jonathon Kingsbury, an open bar and casino games in the VIP area and a balloon drop at midnight. Also at midnight was the addition of a special “message” from Elton John, which surely was intended to be funny but was difficult to hear over hum of the crowd. Despite all the goodies, there was a major drawback: There were only port-a-johns available for restrooms (and only eightof those for the entire crowd), and nowhere to wash your hands afterward. Yuck! I hate to complain but even Bonnaroo had running water, and there’s just no excuse for that oversight, especially when everyone is decked out in their most fabulous NYE outfits.
