Byrd's Eye View: Save Cowboy Keith

If you were out and about on Sunday afternoon and you happened upon the 50 or so people riding around town on scooters, you might have thought they were some kind of eco-friendly biker gang.

Turns out the scooter rally was just part of the Save Cowboy Keith benefit. Cowboy Keith Thompson was involved in an accident while riding his scooter through the East Side's Five Points area. He's pretty banged up and has undergone major surgery, sadly without the help of insurance, but is expected to make a full recovery.

To help ease his physical and financial pain, his buddies organized a fundraising event that included a hoop jam by Hooprama and DJ Heath Haynes, an extensive silent auction and performances from Chuck Mead, Gary Bennett, The Clutters, The Smart Brothers, Panty Raid, Chris Scruggs, James Intveld, Eddie Angel and Jimmy Satan.
