Byrd's Eye View - 2011 Symphony Spring Fashion Show
Nearly 800 guests filled the Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Tuesday night for their Spring Fashion Show, which featured the fall 2011 line from high-end label, Marchesa. Models clad in the luscious designs strutted down a runway that spanned nearly the entire length of the Laura Turner Concert Hall and the event was capped with a performance from superstar Faith Hill.
“You don’t know how bad I want to run down that runway,” she joked with the crowd from the stage. “But there’s a slope and it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve fallen on stage.”
Hill, clad in a sparkling, floor-length, form-fitting gown in gunmetal by the night’s featured designer, performed a short set that included her hit “This Kiss” and a surprise cover.
“How about a little Janis in my Marchesa?” Hill asked the crowd. It was then that she launched into Joplin’s classic hit, “Piece of My Heart.”
All proceeds from the event go to benefit the Nashville Symphony’s commitment to education and community outreach, as well as the Thor Johnson Scholarship Fund.
