Byrd's Eye View - Big Kenny
Friends and colleagues gathered at the palatial yet cozy Green Hills home of the self-proclaimed “Ambassador of Love” a.k.a. Big Kenny Alphin of Big & Rich fame for an intimate listening and video viewing party for his soon to be released album, “The Quiet Times of a Rock & Roll Farm Boy.”
The album and the accompanying videos for each of the songs, one of which was directed by a student of Watkins College of Art & Design, offer a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the musician’s home life, his journeys around the world on altruistic missions, where he grew up and the people who make his life complete.
Upstairs in his music room/recording studio in the compound that he sweetly refers to as his “Villa le Creativity,” where the intoxicating smell of Nag Champa incense hung in the air, Kenny gave the small group of guests a live performance of some of the songs from the new album.
“Y’all feel free to sing along,” he exclaimed as he sang some of his favorite lyrics, “Let a day never come that we worry about the things we could have done.”
Admittedly, Kenny’s positive attitude is positively infectious and he’s hoping his fans will feel the same way about the new album.
You can pick up a copy of “The Quiet Times of a Rock & Roll Farm Boy,” which will be encased in “flower power” biodegradable packaging complete with real wild flower seeds, on Nov. 10 and look out for Big Kenny’s club tour, set to begin in October. Rumor has it that he will be reuniting his fellow band mates from LuvjOi.
