Byrd's Eye View - Chihuly Nights
THE COLOUR AND THE SHAPE
The exceptional work of renowned glassblowing artist Dale Chihuly has been presented in exotic locations around the world and now, you can view some of his master creations, right here in Music City. A joint exhibition of Chihuly’s work is currently being presented simultaneously at both the Frist Center for the Visual Arts and Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art as part of its 50th anniversary celebration.
These aren’t just small glass figurines, they’re grandiose glass installations that explode with color and inspire awe. The Cheekwood exhibition is particularly striking because you can view Chihuly’s amazing creations after dark, when the sculptures are dramatically lit making the gardens come alive at night. And it just so happens that it’s the perfect opportunity for a romantic date.
Chihuly at Cheekwood runs through Oct. 31 with tickets set at $15 each for adult admission and $12 for students with ID. Chihuly Nights runs through Oct. 29 every Wed., Thurs. and Fri. night from 4:30p.m.until 10 p.m. Chihuly’s work be on display at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts through Jan. 2, 2011.
