Byrd's Eye View - Oscar Night America
AND THE WINNER IS…
Hollywood wasn’t the only location where spotlights swirled in the sky in honor of the 82nd Annual Academy Awards. Right here in the heart of Hillsboro Village, the red carpet was rolled out for the ninth annual Oscar Night America at The Belcourt Theatre.
“This event is all about celebrating the movies and we are all about the movies so its perfect for us,” says Belcourt managing director Stephanie Silverman. “This is our biggest annual fundraiser so we depend on it to raise money to help fund our operations all year round plus its just a really nice time to celebrate with the people we love and honor great filmmaking.”
Guests, decked out in their most glamorous ensembles, perused the expansive silent auction loaded with goodies from local vendors and nibbled on delicious hors d’oeuvres from Whole Foods and fine wines from Village Wines. Inside the theater, the awards show was shown on both screens.
“It’s sort of what were known for and it’s such a good fit,” says event co-chair Laura Ellis. “The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences licenses one party in each city each year to do this so we are the official Oscar sanctioned party in Nashville. It just makes sense because this is the home of independent film in Nashville.”
