Byrd's Eye View - Sweethearts for Scholarships Gala
The Nashville State Community College Foundation hosted its eighth annual Sweethearts for Scholarships Gala at the Hutton Hotel on Friday night. Each year, the black tie event honors a celebrity couple in Nashville that uses their star power to give back to the community.
This year’s honorees were CMA Vocal Duo of the Year nominee Joey+Rory, a couple that first gained momentum in the music industry after winning CMT’s ‘Can You Duet’ televised competition.
"We're honored to have a duo and real life sweethearts with such talent and charm as our celebrity honorees," said returning event Chair Shawn Thomas. "Recordings don't do Joey and Rory justice; you have to hear them sing in person. It's amazing to witness the collective gasp from the audience upon hearing those first few notes."
In addition to a performance by the duo, guests were treated to a cocktail reception, lavish dinner and silent auction in the Hutton Hotel Ballroom and all proceeds from the event went to help provide scholarships for students at the College.
