Nashville Jewish Film Festival
Gregg Sulkin and Helena Bonham Carter star in "Sixty Six," which will screen at the Nashville Jewish Film Festival.

The Nashville Jewish Film Festival is set to begin Saturday, Nov. 7, with a schedule that includes art, drama, romance, comedy, sports and Jewish history.

Over six days, Nov. 7-Nov. 12, 13 films for audiences of all ages are planned for screening at the Belcourt Theatre in Hillsboro Village, 2101 Belcourt Ave.

The films cover the globe, from New York City to Hungary to Israel, telling stories of the past or directly from recent headlines. Many of the films have won numerous awards, and several filmmakers, actors, actresses or film subjects will be on hand for discussions immediately after the screenings.

"You don't have to be Jewish to attend. Anyone that likes movies or has any interest in human stories will enjoy the festival," said NJFF co-director Laurie Eskind.

"It has become something that people appreciate and look forward to, and it's a nice cultural offering in this city."

The Nashville Jewish Film Festival was founded in 2000 by The Temple - Congregation Ohabai Sholom. The annual event, in its ninth year, is one that organizers hope will educate and create a forum for the Nashville community to get a glimpse of the realities of Jewish life, culture and history.

"As the Nashville Jewish Film Festival continues to expand its offerings, it also continues to expand our community's horizons," says Senior Rabbi Mark Schiftan of The Temple.

"Nashville is a city of constantly increasing diversity, but even as we welcome that diversity, events such as the Nashville Jewish Film Festival are vital, since they help deepen our understanding of one another."

The public is invited to view all film screenings. Tickets are $9, with $7 matinees, films before 6 p.m. Discounted tickets are available for $6 for students, seniors 65-older and groups of 10 or more. The All Festival Pass, good for tickets to all films and special events, is $125 each. The $45 Reel Deal Pass, for those 25 years of age or younger, is good for tickets to all films.

Tickets may be purchased at www.nashvillejewishfilmfestival.org or at the Belcourt Theatre box office.
