When it comes to all things Star Wars, fans probably know more than any marketing folks. So I'd say it's pretty smart of the franchise's new partner – Pringles – to let the people create a new ad campaign.

Pringles has just launched its "Force For Fun" contest, which asks Star Wars devotees to submit ideas for a new TV commercial. Winning ideas receive cash prizes, so it may be worth your while to contribute.

If you're interested, be sure to read the list of rules, because it's pretty dang long. For instance, entries should feature Yoda and/or Darth Vader, though neither character can be shown "directly touching, holding or talking about" the chips. Another interesting rule (and I'm assuming these guidelines are determined by Lucasfilm): "Do not put real world characters into the Star Wars universe, but Star Wars characters can enter into the real world."

The deadline for entries is Jan. 21. Winning ideas may appear on TV this fall, when the Pringles campaign coincides with the theatrical 3-D releases of Episode II and Episode III. Good luck, and may the ... oh, you know.
