Fashion: The film’s standout outfit adorns Judi Dench’s Queen Elizabeth. Costume designer Sandy Powell let her imagination go when creating over 60 dresses for this character. Excessively ornate and over-the-top, Dench’s wardrobe oozed wealth, privilege and position. No wonder Powell won an Oscar for this piece.

Fix: Take a note from the Queen and mix and match jewelry on clothes. Attach a brooch on a Hanes T-shirt, as a hair piece or on a bag to add a little twinkle of excess shine on even the most generic of wardrobe staples.
