Steve Reeves, "Hercules"
When you’re casting Hercules, you don’t mess around. That’s why producers turned to Reeves, Mr. Universe 1950, for the 1958 Italian production. He looked like a son of the gods, slaying monsters with zeal and performing the Twelve Labors with gusto. Reeves reprised the role in “Hercules Unchained” a year later, and was tapped to portray Goliath in “Goliath and the Barbarians.” He inspired generations to come: Sylvester Stallone said that seeing “Hercules” convinced him to spend more time in the gym.
