Reality check. Let's say it's Oscar night 2008. The Coen Brothers finally have their Oscars. What if someone said "two years from now, we'll be talking about Oscar winners Sandra Bullock, Kathryn Bigelow and Mo'Nique." It would've sounded straight up insane, right? That's the beauty of award season, there are always surprises.
So if those surprises seem a little less surprising when we finally get to Oscar night, don't blame the winners. Mo'Nique had a phenomenal role in "Precious" and she played the hell out of it. She earned her place in the Oscar spotlight, and all the other awards she collected leading up to that.
What will she do next? Who knows? Even more uncertain: who's the next "didn't see that coming" Oscar winner?
