Ghostfinger frontman Richie Kirkpatrick.
Like Ghostfinger's 2005 debut, The Feeler shows no shortage of rock reference points (see T. Rex/Thin Lizzy/Doo-wop tribute "Born on the Moon"). But here the freaky Nashville rockers' tunes are generally more tempered, subtle and surprisingly serious.
Frontman Richie Kirkpatrick has found the perfect speed for his deranged delivery with desperate ballad "Anne Marie," highly melodic strummer "Follow the Water" and killer closer "Marina Show."
The band's campy tendencies and Kirkpatrick's challenging caterwaul may prove a tough entry point for some, but by the time he reaches a screeching octave on "Marina Show," even the wariest listeners should be basking in The Feeler's absurd triumphs.
