Storyboards, the latest album from Chicago duo Sleeping at Last, is some painfully pretty stuff, combining a vocal style that falls somewhere between Bright Eyes' dramatic caterwauling and Loney, Dear's resigned soprano, with lush orchestrations straight out of a classic Hollywood musical. It's acoustic-based chamber pop that steers clear of snooze-ville through tasteful injections of heightened drama.
