Tennessee Highway Patrol officers are periodically shutting down three Interstate 24 exits leading to the site of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival near Manchester in Coffee County in an attempt to relieve traffic congestion.
According to THP dispatcher Rich Thomas, officers are parking patrol cars at the end of each exit as they fill up with motorists. Once the ramp clears, the officers move the patrol cars, reopening the ramps until they are full again.
Of the three exits, only one leads directly to the Bonnaroo site, Coffee County Sheriff’s officials said. The others can be used to reach the site indirectly.
