Jack White's new base of operations, in an industrial neighborhood just south of Nashville's Lower Broadway district, may not look like much from the outside, but inside its walls, White is building a new kind of music company. Third Man is a one-stop shop for musicians and fans alike, housing a recording studio, rehearsal space, small performance stage, photo studio and darkroom, vinyl record store, and Third Man's offices. "It’s certainly not lucrative to open a record company now, between the recession and where the music business is," White told the New York Times in an interview after the Dead Weather show that christened the new space. "But this is what I love to do, put music in people’s hands."
