1. Kurt Cobain attends his first concert, a Melvins show
Yes, we’re well aware there’s some uncertainty about this. Cobain was also quoted as saying a June 25, 1986 Black Flag gig was his first concert, while others suggested it was, believe it or not, a Sammy Hagar show (and that Cobain even purchased a Hagar concert T-shirt, wearing it nonstop for weeks afterwards). Hmmm. A Nirvana-fied “I Can’t Drive 55”—now that would be worth a spin. If the Melvins were indeed that first show, however, that would fit in perfectly with Nirvana’s back story, as Melvins frontman Buzz Osborne is said to have introduced Cobain to future Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic.
