5 to Try: Hot chicken
What do you crave on a hot summer day? Icy drinks and frozen treats? We at Metromix crave Nashville's signature dish, smokin' hot and spicy chicken. It's so intense we celebrate it on one of the hottest days of the year - Fourth of July - with the annual Hot Chicken Festival. But you can enjoy it all year. So get your game face on, because these chicken joints bring the heat, hard.

Though it's in the flood-ravaged Opry Mills/Opryland Hotel area, Scoreboard is still open and still serving some seriously spicy chicken. The Scoreboard was named by Nashvillehotchicken.com as "the best under-the-radar hot chicken in Nashville." They serve it up in hand-cut hot Bitchin' Butch Bites, hot chicken tenders or the Jumbo Chicken Breast. Choose from a range of heat levels, or go all out and try the Satan's Tongue. We double-dog dare ya.
How hot is it? The heat ranges from Sissy to Satan's Tongue, if that tells you anything.
